Gullah Geechee and African American travellers want more than a sightseeing trip. Families and reunion groups want a journey planned so everyone can be part of it, and churches and universities want a group trip with meaning. The Homecoming Tour is a guided heritage journey for the Gullah Geechee and wider African diaspora, and the 2026 tour runs from 9 to 20 November.
Who it is for
Led by FambulTik, the heritage company Amadu Massally founded in 2009
Fambul Tik is Krio for family tree. Its founder and CEO, Amadu Massally, returned to Sierra Leone in 2009 after 26 years abroad, having founded the Sierra Leone-Gullah Heritage Association in the United States. FambulTik presents the history through three themes: slavery, resistance and abolition.

Why is Bunce Island on the route?
Bunce Island is one of the most important historic sites for African Americans in Africa. It was one of the leading ports of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, and many African American ancestors passed through it.
Can I see the eco-homes at Kent on the tour?
Yes. Kent is on the route, and the tour includes the official opening of the Eco-Living Oasis. Homecoming → Homeownership is built on this: take the tour, visit Kent, and choose a home.
