# Custom application development

> Web and mobile applications designed and built around how your organisation actually works.

Custom application development is a service in TpGroup's [Technology](https://tpgroupsl.com/what-we-do/technology.md) sector, delivered by TpISENT. TpGroup is based in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Written for: Government (ministries, departments and agencies); Financial services (banks and insurance); NGOs and associations; Small and medium-sized businesses; Education (schools, colleges and universities). Markets served: Sierra Leone, Liberia, The Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, West Africa, Africa.

## Why: Software and websites that fit how your organisation actually works

Government agencies want digital services citizens can actually use. Banks and businesses want software that fits their process, not the other way round, and NGOs want reliable tools for field teams and reporting. Buyers now write the same things into their requirements: offline operation, staff training and a handover your own team can maintain. If you are looking for a website or web application built in Sierra Leone, you also need a team that is still there after launch.

## Who it is for

What you need: Digital services citizens can actually use.

What you get: A dedicated team from design through launch and support.

### NGOs and programmes

What you need: Reliable tools for field teams and reporting.

What you get: Data collection and reporting apps that work offline and sync later.

## How: Designed with the people who will use it, built in rounds you can review

TpISENT (SL) Limited, TpGroup's computing and information systems company, runs the full software development life cycle: we study the problem with the people who will use the application, then design, build and test in short rounds you can review, launch, train your team and provide support and maintenance. We build on open-source software and contribute back, and our founder has been a Drupal contributor for 16 years.

- Discovery and design with your team before anything is built
- Web applications, native mobile apps and desktop applications, depending on what the work needs
- Short build-and-review rounds, so you can correct course early
- Applications built to run on local connections, with offline use where field teams need it
- Launch, staff training, then ongoing support and maintenance from the same team

## What: Websites, web, mobile and desktop applications, launched and supported

You get a dedicated team from design through launch and support, and software shaped around your own process. If you also need a web address, hosting or email, our Domains and hosting and Managed Digital Presence offerings can be handled by the same group. We serve organisations in Sierra Leone, Liberia, The Gambia, Ghana and Nigeria.

- Discovery and design workshops with your staff
- Websites and web applications for institutions, government and business
- Native mobile apps and desktop applications where the work needs them
- Launch, training for your staff, and support and maintenance afterwards
- Optional domain, hosting, email and monthly updates through Managed Digital Presence

## Questions about Custom applications

### Who builds web applications in Sierra Leone?

TpISENT (SL) Limited, the computing and information systems company of TpGroup, designs and builds web applications, native mobile apps and desktop applications from Freetown. Its record includes the Sierra Leone open election data platform (2018), adopted by the Independent Media Commission, and online admissions, registration and grades portals for Njala University and the University of Sierra Leone.

### Does TpGroup design and build websites?

Yes. TpISENT builds websites and web applications, and our Managed Digital Presence plan keeps a site and its email updated for a monthly fee. For the Government of Sierra Leone's Open Government Initiative in 2013 we delivered a citizen platform with training and written manuals for the staff who maintain it. We also built public sites for Njala University and the University of Sierra Leone under a common theme.

### Can you build a native mobile app or a desktop application?

Yes. TpISENT builds native mobile apps and desktop applications as well as web applications. Tell us what the application must do and who will use it, and we will say which form, or combination, suits the work.

### Can your applications work without a stable internet connection?

Yes, where the work needs it. We design for local connections, and we build data collection and reporting apps that work offline and sync later. TpLEARN, our exam preparation product, works offline and has users in Sierra Leone, Liberia, The Gambia, Ghana and Nigeria.

### Is your software open source?

We build on open-source software and contribute back. The Sierra Leone open election data platform is open source today under GPL-2.0 on github.com/TpISENT. TpGroup plans to open-source the core of TpLEARN and TpEMIS; that is a plan, not yet done.

### How does a custom application project work?

We study the problem with the people who will use the system, then design, build and test in short rounds you can review. After that we launch, train your team, and provide support and maintenance. You work with one team from design through launch.

### Do you work outside Sierra Leone?

We serve organisations in Sierra Leone, Liberia, The Gambia, Ghana and Nigeria. Our delivery base is Freetown, Sierra Leone.

### Can you also handle our domain, hosting and email?

Yes. TpISENT offers domain registration, hosting and professional email, and a Managed Digital Presence plan where we host, update and support your site and email for a monthly fee. That gives you one team to call.
